    I’m still using Winamp (version 5.666 Build 3516 x86) in Windows 10.

    Is it safe? Is there something as user friendly for playing saved mp3s and streaming radio?

    Thanks.

      Check the Winamp fixed bug reports here.

      I don’t remember seeing any reports of bugs in audio files impacting Windows, but I’m sure a search will bring up some answers.

      cheers, Paul

      @Morty,
      Winamp 5.666 build 3516 (patched) is still in support according to their forums:
      (not linking due to blacklists)

      winamp

      The issue regarding safety is well, ominous? shall we say, as they actually recommend updating to winamp v5.8
      (the lack of updated (dates) on their forum posts don’t help matters)

      If jumping to v5.8 (dependant on your use of plugins etc..and how it affects your use of the program), I’d carefully research feedback for potential pitfalls first.

      Suggestive alternative, for both radio and mp3 playing specifically for W10: Tray Radio (updated 16th Oct 2020)

      Note: no association with developer etc..

      Windows - commercial by definition and now function...

        Thank you. Will proceed with caution. With computers, you have to be crazy not to be paranoid.

      Nice to see Winamp mentioned.  I used Winamp in an old Win 95B computer to play MP3’s.  Windows 95 media player wouldn’t play them so I was glad to have Winamp.

      I stopped at 5.58 as later builds did not seem to support the Topaz Amp skin. I have not heard of any problems but who knows whats next??
