For several days I was unable to access the Internet or to send/receive emails on my desktop PC. Network Diagnostics said the DNS server was not responding, and Windows Live Mail said the host mail.maltanet.net could not be found. My ISP altered some settings but that made no difference. Some instinct prompted me to open my laptop and go to Network and Sharing Centre, which showed that a Homegroup had been created, and that served no purpose because I hadn’t joined the Homegroup on my desktop PC. (I don’t recall setting up Homegroup on the laptop). I left the Homegroup, because I prefer the old way of sharing, and then found that I was able to access the Internet and to send/receive emails on my desktop PC. So all’s well that ends well, but if someone could explain how leaving the Homegroup solved the problem I would be grateful.
Thanks and regards, Roy
