We have two computers sharing a printer via a Belkin 2-port USB connector. Everything works great except…after you print from computer #2, the printer queue holds the print job – it states that it has printed, but doesn’t clear. So…when you switch to printer #1, the job in the queue from computer #2 prints again. We have to go in and clear the queue in computer #2 before using computer #1. Is there a way to resolve this? It is a pain and if the gals forget, they go to print checks from computer #1 and something else prints from computer #2 on the checks. dizzy

The best thing in my thoughts is to get rid of the switch and get a router and a couple NIC’s and cables then set up a small Workgroup network. Some of the newer machines come with the NIC’s built in. The printer can be set up on one machine and shared, also if you have another printer it could be on the other machine and shared.

We already have a network, but don’t want to run another cable to the only open connection. Plus, the one computer has our timeclock on it which caused a lot of issues when part of the network. This is why we got another computer and took the one off the network and just have it connected direct to the payclock.

Since your goal is to keep this one off the network, maybe it would be easier to buy another printer? smile

Have you checked all the printer software/configuration settings to see if there is something about ‘holding print jobs’?

You could attach one printer to a PC and have that PC share its printer.
