Google keeps telling me that igoogle will no longer be available after Nov 1-2013. Any former igoogle users out there that have moved to something else that they like as well….whatzit…I’ve never been that comfortable with Chrome, Gooogle+ or Bing. Thanks for any input.

It’s a customizable home page service.
I have mine setup to show:
1. News Headlines
2. PC World News Headlines
3. Stock Markets and my secruities
4. Local weather and that where my Mother & Brother live.
5. Fandango Movie Show TimesThere are of course many more options. HTH

AskWoody LoungerAugust 15, 2013 at 12:34 pm #1407073I switched over to igHome.com six months ago or so and have been quite pleased…… You can customize it as I did with iGoogle and when Nov. 1st comes I’ll have no worries …… It calls itself the iGoogle Alternative so there isn’t much else to say about that…… I receive the weekly mail on Thursday so then I’ll make any worthy comments, bye.

AskWoody LoungerOctober 9, 2013 at 12:19 pm #1415973I am also changed my iGoogle to Startme a few days ago and it works pretty well I can put all the same features on the home page that I had on iGoogle. The best benefits of Startme is it is simple and easy to understand.

AskWoody_MVPOctober 9, 2013 at 6:06 pm #1416056I’m also probably going to switch to ighome.com. I’ve been tinkering with it for about a week and it seems more comparable to igoogle than anything else I’ve been exploring. Right now I’m running both igoogle and ighome in separate tabs as my start pages so I can get a longer-term feel for how they stack up.
The slightly different formatting doesn’t seem to bother me much, and I do like the way ighome uses tabs and the “black bar”. The tabs are more practical than igoogle’s implementation of tabs. The “black bar” is like the black bar google has used at the top of their products (and which they’re now compressing into a grid icon), but it’s better because you can customize it with any weblinks there, not just google products.
Unfortunately, ighome doesn’t seem to have a decent weather widget. My grown children have all spread out to different states, and with igoogle it’s been nice to have compact, 5-day forecasts with small sunny/cloudy graphics for all the different locales so I know at a glance what weather everyone is expecting.

AskWoody_MVPOctober 10, 2013 at 3:45 am #1416090For whom the weather forecast from iGoogle will be missing, a nice replacement is
WeatherSpark.com, it saves the places you introduce so you can jump from one place to other in a few clicks.Perhaps you misunderstood–igHome isn’t missing a weather forecast widget, but it doesn’t have one near as quick and convenient as igoogle’s. I’ll attach a screenshot of the igoogle widget so you’ll understand what I’m talking about.
As soon as I open my browser a quick glance at my start page tells me what weather the rest of my family will be expecting. I don’t have to make a single click or go to some other webpage, or click to cycle through a series of locales. I just open my browser, they’re all there at one glance, and I continue on with whatever it was I was opening the browser for in the first place. It’s as casual and effortless as checking the clock while you’re at work.
I don’t need detailed weather reports or analysis, so there shouldn’t be a requirement to have to click here and there, or get sidetracked going somewhere else. Also, unless I missed it, I don’t see where WeatherSpark can be used as a widget on a start page. Again, there are plenty of weather websites I could go to when I really want weather details, but I want something a lot simpler for my start page.
I also don’t need or want a Windows sidebar/gadget–I don’t need something in my face all day long, I only want to see it once or twice a day.

InactiveOctober 10, 2013 at 2:13 am #1416080I found Symbaloo [http://www.symbaloo.com/%5D very useful. Meantime I’m only building it and trying it but it seems not difficult to mount and use.
Good luck to all iGoogle orphans!
