Symantec error reporting stopped error message

On 1/19/11, an error message window started to appear (it just appears silently on my taskbar) which claims to be from Microsoft Windows stating:
[INDENT]”Symantec error reporting stopped working and was closed. A problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notifify you if a solution is available.”
[/INDENT]When I close it, it comes back shortly thereafter, even when the computer is idle. I haven’t been able to figure out how long it takes to come back or what might be bringing it back. I have rebooted but that hasn’t changed anything. I’ve also run a full NIS scan and also Malwarebytes and Ad-Aware (these latter two were installed after this started).

In NIS History, the last activity for Norton Error Reporting and Performance Alerts was coincidentally 1/19/11. Everything else has had activity since.

I’m using NIS 2011. My Windows version is Vista Home Premium SP2.

I can’t believe this is actually a reliable, trustworthy error. Can anyone help me figure out where and what this is?

Hello… I also use NIS 2011 and Vista ( no SP’s ).I don’t use the NIS error reporting but…. When you look in NIS History what is the error message ? Also… Are you using Windows security….Defender Firewall etc. along with NIS? On my OS’s i only using NIS 2011, and Malwarebytes PRO …nothing else as 2011 does a fine job on it’s own:cheers: Regards Fred

PS: you can try and switching off NIS error reporting
