In WIN 98, you could find out the status of System Resources by right clicking on MY COMPUTER, going to properties and clicking on PERFORMANCE. How do you do this in WIN XP?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 11, 2002 at 11:20 pm #569816You’re not going to see the same thing in XP – it will look quite a bit different. If you want to see percentages, you will need to download a third party application.
That said, if you right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager (or press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC), you will see the NT version of resources. You can see how much memory is being used by each process on the Processes tab, and on Performance you’ll see a graphical, reeal-time representation of CPU and memory usage. Below that are totals for several different items, including Peak usage.
Since NT/2K/XP handle resources in a completely different manner (and substantially better than 98 at that) the resources tab isn’t really relevant in that environment. You really need to watch the amount of memory being used under peak loads, because resources are released as needed. That doesn’t mean that it’s perfect – just different and better.
