Is there any keyboard shortcut to display the Tabs dialog box?
Alternatively, is there any speedy way to pop up the Tab dialog box?
Thanks in advance.

AskWoody LoungerOctober 22, 2009 at 8:38 am #1182591You could assign your own keyboard shortcut:
– Click the Office button.
– Click Word Options.
– Click Customization in the navigation pane on the left hand side.
– Click Customize… (next to Keyboard shortcuts)
– Select All Commands in the list of Categories on the left.
– Select FormatTabs in the list of Commands on the right.
– Click in the “Press new shortcut key” box.
– Press the desired keyboard shortcut.
– Click Assign.See Find the Tabs Dialog Box in Word 2007 for some other ways to display the Tabs dialog.

ArmstrongThe quickest way to display the tabs dialog, if you don’t want to customize your keyboard, is to click the View Ruler button, just above the Vertical Scrollbar, and then to double click the ruler at the place where you want the tab.

Hi Stuart,
Thanks for your solution. In some cases such as inside a table cell, it won’t work.

AskWoody LoungerOctober 22, 2009 at 8:58 pm #1182695I just tested this inside a table cell and it worked fine.
Hi Stuart,
Thanks for taking time to verify my post. When the insertion cursor (focus) is placed inside a table cell, double-clicking the ruler will pop up the Page Setup dialog box, which doesn’t contain any tab stop setting functionality. That was what I meant.

ArmstrongWhether you get the page setup dialog box or the tabs dialog box does NOT depend on whether the insertion cursor is inside a table cell, just on how near the right margin you double click. It is also possible to get the paragraph setup dialog box by clicking near the left margin.

Hi Stuart,
Yes, I just tried out everything you said with total success.
Yes, double-clicking various locations on the rule pop up different dialog boxes.
Thanks a lot.
