Can any one recommend a TCP/IP FTP Client to send and receive files to and from my AOL web space?

    Thanks, John

There are many available. See free ftp client – Google Search for links to many. I use FileZilla Homepage – Index at home & work. I’ve also used SmartFTP – FTP Client. Both are free and either should work.

I don’t use a separate FTP client for sending stuff to my web space (a different ISP than AOL, but I doubt that would matter). It’s one of the few things I use Internet Explorer rather than Firefox for (I had problems once in Firefox even with the appropriate extension and didn’t bother trying to figure the problem out since I was so used to FTP’ing with IE).

I just type ftp:ftp.shaw.ca in the IE address bar (the ftp: is the important part – the part after the colon is specific to my ISP), enter my id and password, and drag and drop files.

cheers Thanks for posting! I didn’t realize IE had that functionality.

I think you are better off using one of the free ftp clients (like Filezilla, which I use). I have an ftp site here, and I find it difficult to support the outside users sometimes. With an real ftp client, you can see all the status and error messages. Not in IE. Generally, if something goes wrong, you just get a blank window.

You can use BBCodes to format your content.
Your account can't use all available BBCodes, they will be stripped before saving.
