Hello ~ All, Back on the 6/4/11, I had a crisis…windows 7 wouldn’t take a new admin pass word..I’ve solved that by re-installing windows – thanks to carbonite, I have my system back as before. NOW, how do I (( test )) pass words before input? I’m extremely paranoid now! If a mistake is made – you’re locked OUT..The reset disk might help, but I’m not sure how it works ?? I’m trying to use it, but it’s not clear when everything is blank to begin with? Thanks for suggestions. John in Dallas

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

Joe
Thanks, Joe A guy on wbbs said “I should have tested the p.w. before entering it” ?? He didn’t say how? Is there a way of checking correct input before using a p.w. I’m referring to grc.com, steve’s haystack form under services…He explains how to create p.w. and seeing how strong they are….That’s where I fell into HELL using his test pattern script. I copied my selection into my admin p.w. area–instead of typing the exact characters!!! Windows went crazy and wouldn’t accept it… Now, I’m very cautious in doing anything on p.w. without verifying. I don’t think there is a way??

AskWoody_MVPJune 15, 2011 at 3:25 pm #1283578Always make sure that that you have more than one Admin account on your machine. When you first make your new account, do NOT enter a password. Log out of your current account, login to the new account, then when the account has been set up, add a password. Log out and then log back in using the same account and password. If that fails then you can log into your old account a start again.
Do NOT use Switch User, as this will not work with an account that has not been fully set up.
