I think BMW and Mercedes finally have some serious competition for the top selling sports car. They seriously need to pay attention, or they are going to wonder what happened.

access-mdb: No, it is designed to be noisy. And so very cool…

And 446 HP at the wheels? That is something to be respectful about.

Now, as the rightly proud owner of a 30-year old Geo Prizm (a Toyota Corolla built in America and so, with an American snazzier look) how likely am I to recommend this 45K – 57 K beauty to anyone I know? Well, my problem is that I don’t know anyone that would be prepared, or perhaps even be able, to pay that tidy sum for a car, even if it is a “Bullet”. But a man can dream…

They’re a bit late for any competition that attempts to rival the Corvette. The beauty that packs a true punch was born in 1953. Just my honest opinion.

Another gas guzzler to potter around at 55mph in. What a joke!

I rarely even get to do 55 mph, and my Scion TC with 18 inch wheels, six forward speed automatic transmission, and 180 HP, 4 cyl. “cruises” easily at 80 mph (feels like 60 mph).  Most of the time I’m forced to “putter” around town at 40 to 50 mph and the transmission is going crazy trying to figure out the proper gear to be in especially at 40 or below.

Around where I live we have some very impressive, world-class traffic jams. So, if I had a car like that, I could impress any drivers and their passengers stranded along with me and within sight my Mustang, for hours at a time. If  I had a Mustang like the one in the video, that is. And I could have it going “vrooom! vrooom! as much as I liked, even with the engine turned off to save gas!

I hope it’s easy to get in and out of – and comfortable.

A probably apocryphal story. Mike Hawthorn (a world champion motorbike rider) was in his sports car (Lambo, Ferrari, Mustang perhaps) with a friend. They pick up two young ladies and they sit in the back. After a while he asks them what they think of his motor. ‘A bit cramped innit’ comes the reply. Says it all really.

Exactly. Sort of… less than practical… to buy cars that comfortably transport less than half of the family.

And also less than practical to buy cars that I couldn’t drive home. That thing looks like it probably doesn’t have enough ground clearance and parts are going to be expensive… again. (BTDT.)

Many electrics out accelerate some of those ‘Hot Rods’ quite handily. You just need a loud speaker to let everyone know how cool you are. rrrrrrr rrrrr rrrr 🏎

It’s the torque that counts for me not the bhp 😉
Electrics cars are screaming for a grunt-tones to change the exhaust sound as you drive via a speaker (boy racer mode, city slicker, country bumpkin mode, full throttle mode) is there an app for that?

          bhp

And does not torque correspond to ability to accelerate?🏎️🏁

Torque = acceleration, power = speed, more or less.

            cheers, Paul

I think it is more like: power = mass x acceleration x velocity and it changes over time, as the acceleration and the velocity change. The mass is that of the vehicle plus the passengers, their luggage, if any, and all the usual junk under the seats, inside the trunk, etc. The horse power specified is the maximum power the engine can deliver. The power from the formula is just the actually useful one; the engine has to deliver that plus whatever is lost internally because of friction with the car moving parts and externally, because of the air drag and the drag between the tires and the road surface.

          I want a tractor mode.

Torque is useless if I can’t use it to pull things.

I grew up around Hot Rods and was trained by the best in putting pedal to metal. But now life in the fast lane is easier on the eardrums not to mention the whole gear shifting thing. Still fun to watch that checkered flag go down on the mean machines at the track.

Replaced the wife’s Stang (not a Bullitt) this year due to a bad crash. Didn’t care much for the new body style but it’s what she wanted… until I convinced her to test drive a Challenger. She always said no way, that’s a guy car. After the test drive we’re a MOPAR family 🙂

Not the same type of car but what about the new RS6 ? It looks so good
