Thumbnails not working

When trying to view graphics files, i can only see the icon of the associated product. When right clicking and selecting Open with Image Preview, I get a RUNDLL error stating ‘Error in c:windowssystemshimgvw.dll Missing entry:imageview_fullscreen”. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling Image Preview, but it doesn’t work. Anyone got any ideas how I can get this to work?

Try the following:
– Select Start | Run…
– Type regsvr32 shimgvw.dll then press Enter.

Try:
MSKB 272969 – A Description of the Image Preview Feature in Windows Millennium Edition

If you still have no joy, do a search for “shimgvw.dll” to make sure it does exist (you need to make sure hidden files and folders are set to be displayed).

You might try replacing shimgvw.dll. See HOW TO: Extract Original Compressed Windows Files.

Otherwise, I wouldn’t know.

Thanks to HansV and Leif for the suggestions, both of which I have tried. Have had some success, (through removing the Registry entry and re-registering the DLL) in that I can now use Image Preview to see photo’s etc., but am still unable to see the pictures when thumbnail view is selected. it’s not major (have other software which does this for me), just frustrating!!!
