When I open a Word document that is an attachment in Outlook, it opens it in the Thumbnails view. How can I change this to default to the Print Preview View?

Does this happen for *all* documents that are attached to an e-mail, and never if you open a Word document normally?

I haven’t heard of that one. Is it a dysfunctional configuration of the Reading view? To toggle the Reading view for email attachments, try this in Word:

Tools > Options…, General tab, “Allow starting in Reading Layout” (second column of the list of checkboxes)

That did the trick. I disabled reading view.
