For the past week or so, when I get mail in Thunderbird 5 whenever an email is filtered to another folder I get the following message:

There was an error truncating the Inbox after filtering a message to folder ‘FACUG’. You may need to shutdown Thunderbird and delete INBOX.msf.

This happens with the first one processed in each account. Once I have completed the reception of email, I then go and delete the Inbox.msf file, restart Thunderbird, and continue without further problems, until I get email again and have to go through the whole thing again.

Is there some setting I need to change, or is there any other type of fix? Other than this, I like Thunderbird 5 fine.

Try turning off “Compact Folders”? Tools > Options > Advanced > Network and Disk Space.

      cheers, Paul

Tried turning off “Compact Folders”, but that didn’t work. Upgrading to 6.0, maybe that will work.

So far, no further problems since upgrade to TBird 6.0.

Update: Same problem just cropped up yesterday with TBird 6.0, with Compact folders turned off. Anyone else with same problem, or solution to same?
