Thunderbird in Win7 does not see data of WinXP

I used Easy Transfer in the move from Win XP 32bit to Win 7 32 bit. I used Thunderbird as the client in both cases. But nothing email-wise appears to have migrated correctly. I went to Thunderbird Tools|Import, thinking it would find the files. In fact what it did was download all the files off the YAHOO site which feeds the local client (via YAHOO Plus). And Thunderbird doesn’t have any other obvious means of pointing at files, just the semi-automated applet. Any ideas?
