I have a client who has sent me the attached worksheet and his accompanying e-mail is quoted below. I do not know how to advise him. Can you help me? Any help is greatly appreciated:
“I’m trying to show the difference from when the former director was in place and when I took over in April. So taking my numbers (April-July), minus the other director’s numbers (Dec. – March). In this case the difference is a negative number – my average time has dropped (which is good) when you subtract April-July – December – March, it is a negative time which does not calculate using the time formatting.”

    Can you help?

    Thanks!

You could use something along the lines of:

      =IF(F17<F5,"-","")&TEXT(ABS(F17-F5),"hh:mm:ss")
