Is it possible to image the Apple Time Capsule hard drive?

I would like to take an image and put it on a USB External Drive. The price of the USB Drives have come down considerably and it would make me feel better that I have a image of TC somewhere.

    Thanks,
    John

I’d plug in the hard drive then go to System Preferences and change the settings so Time Capsule uses that drive. Run it once.

      Courtney,

Thanks for your response. Your suggestion only addresses the backup process of the Time Capsule; pointing to another drive and creating sparsebundles.

If you recall, TC can also be used to store data, music and etc.. With this in mind I am looking for a means of creating an entire drive image of the Time Capsule.

      Regards,
      John

      John,

Have a look at Carbon Copy Cloner. This is a generally well regarded cloning tool.

Here is an article from their support forums describing how to do what I believe you are wanting to do:

Alternately, you can go to Carbon Copy Cloner’s website, and search their support forum for the term “clone a TIme Machine”.
