To Enable Active X Controls?

Does anyone here have any ideas as to how to get ActiveX controls enable on IE8 on a Windows XP Home Edition SP3. Tried the directions on a site suggested( “TechGuruLive) but it did not enable my Active X controls or even any prompts. Would appreciate any suggestions you might have.

Try – Tools – Internet options – Security – Custom Level – then scroll down and tick the relevant box
