    Hi there,

I have recently experienced a problem with every TOC that I create – for the most basic document to very complex documents the same thing happens. It seems that if I have an entry that I want to appear in my TOC that is smaller than 10 characters long that the leader fails to appear and the page number fails to align to the right hand side of the page. Entries with 10 or more characters work fine. Please see the attached test document.

To create the TOC all I am doing is formatting the intended entries to use the Header 1 Style and picking this out as the only style that will appear in the TOC. I have tried all sorts of things – placing spaces after the text to ‘pad it out’ to 10 characters, entering some text then hiding it (as I really only want my title to appear in the TOC). I can fudge it and add in tabs/manually add in leader, but this has happened a fair few times recently and I wondered if anyone else had come across this problem, and more importantly if anyone has a resolution to this problem??

The hanging indent of the TOC1 style is too large. I’d modify the TOC1 style and make the hanging indent smaller (or even set it to 0).
After that, select the TOC and press Ctrl+Q to reset the paragraph formatting.

        Hi hans,

You are an absolute gem – this works perfectly in every instance where I have tried. Thanks, thanks and thanks again!
