• Toolbar assigned a macro (Excel 2003)

    I have a customized toolbar with about 15 buttons(macros).

My coworker tried to add a new button to the toolbar, but actually added the macro to the toolbar itself.
Now, when you try to open the toolbar list, it just runs the macro that she tried to add.
I cannot open the toolbar to access my macros – is there a way to undo what happened?

    I hope that makes sense.

    Thank you.

How does one assign a macro to a toolbar? scratch

Can you do anything if you select Tools | Customize…?

This is what she did (so she says):

She did Tools/Customize/Command tab/Category:Macros/and then dragged the Custom Button to the closed toolbar.
She then proceeded to customize the button by adding a macro to the button.

When she closed the Customize dialog box, she tried to open the toolbar and it ran the macro .

I was hoping for an easy way out of this, but the workaround is to just to create a new toolbar
from scratch, and add the buttons individually. Luckily there are only 15 !

I have no idea what happened, but can’t you (or she) manipulate the toolbar while the Customize dialog is open? Showing the toolbar shouldn’t run any macros then.

That’s what’s got me scratching my head. Yes, when the Customize dialog box is open, I can
open the toolbar fine. But there is nothing in the toolbar other than the 15 buttons that are always there.
I wonder if there a way to get to the code behind the toolbar itself.
I am guessing that there is an “On Click” event for the actual toolbar – and apparently when the On Click is activated,
            this macro is run.

Well, we just recreated it and it works OK. I am still going to see if there is actual code On Click for the toolbar though.

            Thanks Hans for replying !
