I continue to get my toolbars to shift whenever I edit an embedded Excel worksheet. Basically if I open a new Powerpoint window the toolbars appear normal (Menu/Standard/Formating all directly below header bar). When I double click and edit a worksheet the Excel toolbars appear. Then when I close the worksheet edit then ppt toolbars appear below the area where the excel bars were! Essentially after doing this once or twice I am left with only 1/2 a working window and 1/2 blank gray toolbar area. I’ve tried clearing the ppt.pcb file in my profile, but it coutinues to be a problem.

The appearance of Excel toolbars when working on an Excel spreadsheet embedded in a PPT presentation is a normal occurence. This is why I prefer to open the Excel file directly within Excel and edit it there. Just my 2cents.

I’ve seen only one report of toolbars not redocking properly after double-clicking an OLE object–in this case, it was with both MS Graph and Word tables. This was back in early 2001 over on the MS PPT newsgroup. We tried everything we could think of to pinpoint the issue. Never did figure out what caused the problem, but after the user double-clicked to edit an embedded Excel worksheet, all the toolbars magically started working properly again! So we never did really figure out the solution, either, but you might see if opening a Graph object or a Word toolbar “resets” them for you.

Sure wish I had a better answer for you. That one’s still a head scratcher.
