I have an Acer laptop running Windows 10.  It includes a touch screen.  I have had problems with it since I first bought the computer, in that it seems to be out of action when not used for even a fairly short period. I used to be able to get it working again by disabling it on the Device Manager and then enabling it again.  I then accidentally uninstalled it on device manager, and can’t get it back again.  I’ve downloaded the driver from the Acer website, and run it, but it has not re-appeared on the Device manager list.  Help!!

In Device Manager (when Run as Administrator), there should be options to show hidden devices, and to check for hardware changes. Have you tried these options on the top menu bar?

I’ve already run the “Show Hidden Files” with no success.  I have now also run the “Scan for hardware changes” with no effect.  I’m not sure if I am running as Adminstrator – can’t see that option.

      Thanks for your help

Glad you solved your problem, and as you were able to Enable a Device in Device Manager, you might be regularly running on an administrator level account (this isn’t recommended, for security reasons).

For future reference, to access Run as Administrator, right click over the program link to access, when logged in as a user-level account.

Sorted.  I found a HID device which was disabled – it didn’t specify what it was.  I enabled it and the touch screen has re-appeared and is working.

      Thanks again!!
