Is there any way to add a command button to (say) an Access form and code it so that it will trigger my Canon scanner ? I want to be able to quickly place a hyperlink in a table record linking the record to the document scanned. I’d be grateful for any suggestions if someone knows how to do this.

No I haven’t tried this. In fact I don’t really know much about this “shelling” business but have frequently heard of it. If you had a suggestion of where I might start to learn about it, I’d be grateful.

Depending on your version of Office and Windows, there is an ActiveX control that may have a name similar to “Kodak Image Scan Control”.

Since most scanners use the HP “Twain” interface, you might want to go to the Hewlett Packard web site and see if they have any information available.
