This is so basic, I’m embarassed to ask; but I can’t figure it out! How do I make the menu choices always show? It was always this way until I lately had to reinstall, and now it shows only the most recently used items unless I click on the double down-arrow symbol. I’ve looked in the View and in Tools–>Internet Options areas and I can’t see what stops this behavior. It’s driving me crazy! Help?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerNovember 19, 2003 at 4:22 pm #746174Outside of MS Office, I think this is a Windows XP setting. I use old-fashioned menus, so here is how I would restore normal full menus:
Right-click the Start button>Properties…>Customize…
Then clear the box “Use Personalized Menus” in the Advanced Start menu options list (it’s all the way at the bottom).
Does that work?

AskWoody LoungerNovember 19, 2003 at 6:20 pm #746304I changed to using the Classic menus, unchecked that box, and then rebooted (leaving Classic in place). IE still doesn’t show me all of the menus in the Favorites menu (though it does display them after a delay). Is there some setting you’re aware of that’s maybe specific to that menu that I can check?
