The attached PDF instructions on how to turn all the emails and their attachments in an Outlook folder into a single PDF file is not for everybody and only needed in special situations which many users may never face. The method I use is unconventional and may appear bizarre, but these are the reasons I chose this method and I post it for those that have the same reasons.
1) Printing emails to PDF using Microsoft Print to PDF is easy to understand, but using the Print Option to not print the attachments allows Microsoft Print to PDF to “print” multiple emails to the same PDF print job and thus to one PDF file.
2) Saving attachments as PDF allows you to insert one PDF file into another PDF.
3) There is software available for a cost that will “print” the email and the attachment to a single PDF file; however, that is per email so a different PDF file for each email with attachment.
4) Most free PDF apps will allow merging, but I have not found a free PDF app that inserts another PDF file at exactly where you want it in the PDF file you are inserting to.
5) There are web sites that allow you to insert PDF pages into another PDF exactly where you want to, but that requires you to upload your PDF files to the web site. Also some sites like Adobe require to sign up in order to use the insert function (aka: future email ads). I do not want to upload so much personal information to any web site.
6) Word can open, edit, and create PDFs; AND Word can precisely insert a document inside another document. So open the Emails PDF file in Word, open an attachment PDF file in Word, copy one and paste precisely in the other, and then save the pasted Emails document as a PDF.
I’m sure there are other ways to accomplish this and this appears to be “involved” and lengthy. Like many things, it takes longer to explain how than it does to do. Example: I did a folder with 52 emails and 13 attachments to a completed edited single PDF file of 74 pages in 7 minutes.
