Does anyone know the best way to configure a Linksys Wireless Network Adapter to work with Ubuntu?

I had a lot of difficulty getting a Linksys USB wireless adapter to work even though it was on the list of known good working models for Ubuntu until I installed WICD and used that for adapter management.

After that, it was painless and rock-solid.

Ditto WICD on my Intel built-in wireless adapter. It works well, without a hitch.

That said, it may depend upon the security you may be using on the wireless adapter. I could not get the Ubuntu Network Manager to work for love or money using WEP encryption, but changing that to the better WPA2 seems to work much better for those who have tried it.
