    When I try to edit an existing cell comment by “right click, edit comment”, nothing happens…

    Any ideas?

      Does this happen in a particular worksheet? If so, check whether the worksheet is protected.
      In all worksheets in a particular workbook?
      In all worksheets in all workbooks?

        It happens in a particular worksheet. That sheet is unprotected.
        It’s only one worksheet in a workbook.
        Not all worksheets in all workbooks…

          Are you sure they are comments? perhaps it is datavalidation…

          If you wish, and if the comments are not sensitive, you could attach (a copy of) the workbook – you can clear the cell contents.

            Mysteriously, the problem seems to have fixed itself !

            Needless to say I am somewhat bemused.

            I will advise if it recurs…
