I was recently forced by Charter Communications to switch my email accounts ( I have one account and my wife has another) from POP3 to IMAP since Charter no longer supports POP3. I have to say that I am not too happy with the IMAP protocol since it seems to me to be much more complicated/convoluted than POP3. It may be that is just going to take some time for me to get used to the new routine and I may end up liking it. However, the immediate problem is that my wife cannot send a new mail message from her account (which is not the case with my account). When she tries to send a new message she gets the following popup:
“Errors have been detected in the file C:UsersGerryAppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlookkathy1.pst. Quit Outlook and all mail-enabled applications and then use the Inbox repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file. For more information about the Inbox repair tool, see Help.”
I have run scanpst on her file and no errors or problems were detected. I have also run the Office Diagnostics tool and, again, no problems were found. The problem persists. I probably should mention that I am something of a packrat and have been saving her emails in many different folders for a long time with the net result that her .pst file is now over 8GB in size. I don’t think that should be causing a problem since I believe that Outlook 2007 has a 20GB limitation. I would really appreciate any help this forum might be able to provide. My wife is not especially computer literate (says she “hates computers”) and tends to get quite agitated when her email is not working properly. The opposite side of the “Happy wife, happy life!” coin is “Unhappy wife, lots of strife!” It would be really nice if I could get this situation resolved quickly!
