I have opened a document that contains an embedded image that I am unable to view. If I try to view it I get an error that there is not enough memory.
If I press Alt+F9 it shows the field code as { EMBED Word.Picture.8 }.
Is there a way that I can view the image? The document is attached.

As far as I can tell, the graphic is an empty white box. It is likely that this is a graphic that was placed there as a placeholder while the correct graphic was created. The file size backs up this theory. I’ve tried opening it on a Word 97 machine – perhaps someone using a later version will have more luck.

Word often gets confused with it’s own graphics – I have encountered this same error on simple graphics created inside Word in the past.

I tried this using Word 2003. I get the same message as you & the same “image” that Andrew describes. Sorry.

If I save the document as HTML. no image file is created to accompany the .htm file, so like the others, I guess that there is no real image in the document (or if there is, you cannot get at it in any way).

        Thanks for your help.

I tracked down the original document with the images in it, and it was from 1993.When I opened it, it said, “Reading Word for Macintosh File”. I was then able to paste the images into Word.
