    Hi,
On my PC, I have a number of small DB’s. In one particular DB (the one I attached), I am attempting to create a validation rule in the table by using ” >=Date() “. On saving the change, the DB pops up an error message saying, ” Unknown function : ” Date() ” in validation expression or default value “. I tested this with the Now() function, and the same message appeared???

When I set up the same validation in another DB on the same PC, then the rule works! Any idea why this one DB does this???

      Check the References!

      • #1034050

You mean the VBA references. If it is these…then which one am I looking for?

That problem is almost always caused by a broken reference. This one is no exception.
      – Activate the Visual Basic Editor.
      – You’ll get a warning. Click OK.
      – Select Tools | References…
      – You’ll see one of the reference starting with MISSING: …
      – Clear its check box.
      – Click OK.
The problem should now be gone.

        Aah Ha… got it.

It was MISSING: DAO library…. I cleared it and it is now working…

It’s the standard reply to this question… grin

Agreed that the reply was standard, but Rudi is missing the DAO library?! That is a pretty serious library to be lacking… I would think that a re-install of MS Access might be in order.

No, there was a missing reference to the Microsoft DAO 2.5/3.5 Compatibility Library. This wasn’t needed. There was a valid reference to DAO 3.6.

Whew. That does make a big difference. I missed that from his earlier message, and I didn’t download the original attachment.
