Last evening I noticed wushowhide was cleared/empty; previously had KB4578974 & KB4577671. I quickly went to Settings- Windows Update where before this the two mentioned KBs were awaiting download. Now all I saw was “Updates Paused. Updates will resume 3 November.”

There was the Resume Updates button a la Home Edition.  I have W10 Pro 18363.1083 with settings as per PK Cano, and for several months all was fine.  OK I was sleepy and hit “resume Updates” and the dowloading etc etc began. Disconnected from the internet.  Ran showhide and hid the two previously mentionsed KBs.

Now Windows Update still shows the two KBs –  one Installing 0% and the other pending download. The only thing I did recently was to connect a Samsung phone to the computer to copy a few photos.  MS, without any notification or by your leave installed two Samsung drivers, Modem and USB both 2.16.14.0. I rechecked my setting in regedit – all seems as I set them.

What gives? Any comments or suggestions gratefully accepted.

Can’t shed any further light on the situation so I downloaded to two KBs and updated Windows. I know Def Con is not in the green, but whatever the problem was – it is no longer.  All is back to ‘normal’ what ever that is with MS.  Now on W10  build 18363.1139.

Any time you Resume Updates (end Pause) it will ignore any other settings and do the download/install thing. That is one reason I am careful not to set pause.

You should be OK with the Oct updates. Your settings should work without Pause or Metered connections.
