I have templates with various styles.

As soon as I am in the main “normal” style body text of the document, whilst justification is set on, if I set a tab, tab to it and type some text, the style will change from Normal to one of my pre-set styles, as soon as I print preview the document.

Has anyone else come across this problem?

If I understand correctly, this will happen if there are two conditions:
      1. Tools/Options/Edit tab/Tabs & backspace set left indent is checked.
      2. Your styles are numbered styles, even if the number isn’t displayed.

In that situation, using the tab & backspace key is the same as using Alt+Shift+right or left arrow. You can UNcheck the setting under Tools/Options to change the behavior. It should have nothing to do with justification or Print Preview, though, so I may be barking up the wrong tree.

Could be your styles are being defined based on your formatting – not sure if this was an option in Word 97, though. In Word 2000 and XP – Tools, Autocorrect, Autoformat As You Type tab – remove checkmark from “Define styles based on your formatting.”

      HTH!
