I use office 2010 and i am happy with it it.  when the support is gone in 2020 what could be used that is pc based.  Why PC based . I travel with my computer to locations that don’t have WiFi or even phone signal ( hard to believe but very prevalent in “the real upstate NY” Adirondacks and in upper Vt.)
any suggestions on what to  use.

I personally recommend Open Source Libre Office. It is compatible with the Office 2010 file format for Word, Excel, and Power Point. Unless you are an Office  power user, it should be perfectly adequate.

Hello Ray, welcome to AskWoody forums 🙂

If 2010 is doing what you need, then I suggest keep on using it. It won’t stop working in 2020, and should have all its bugs well fixed by now.

Of course, be careful with files you get from elsewhere, and just generally play it safe. Image your system disk regularly so you have a fallback if you do catch any malware.

How advanced is your usage? Eg VBA, macros, track changes, Access. That would determine if alternatives like PKCano’s or Google Docs [what’s it called now?] could work for you.

      Lugh.
