After receiving the “OK” from Susan, I updated from 1909 to 2004 last week using the gpedit “Target Feature Update Version” procedure. All seems to have gone fine. However, I’m left with a question on updating the .NET Framework.

Before updating Windows, I checked Susan’s recommendations regarding the January and February updates for 2004. January advised to install KB4586876, a preview for .NET 3.5 and 4.8. I found it a bit unusual for a preview to be recommended for installation. February advised deferring KB4601050 for .NET 3.5.and 4.8. This update was offered in wushowhide and the update queue after I updated to 2004. I hid it using wushowhide, awaiting the OK.

My question is, should I download from the Catalog and manually install KB4586876 while waiting for KB4601050 to be approved?

It wasn’t actually a preview by January, as it was first released on November 30, 2020, as you will see in the Catalog:

I’ve had that update installed since December 1, 2020 and it’s caused no problems, so I can see no reason why you shouldn’t install it.
