Running Mint Mate 19.2.  Today’s system update queue included updates for the Veeam backup program, a utility that does not appear in the repo and that was installed via download.  A pleasant surprise!

Even more appealing when compared to the ongoing Windows updating mess…

It will ask you if you want to download and add drivers to the rescue media ISO when you run the new version.  I’d recommend highly that you do that, since the bug that I mentioned within the old rescue media (where it failed to recognize USB-connected hard drives) is fixed.  I don’t know what’s different about the program itself, but that bug being fixed means it will be easier to restore from external HDDs.  It was possible to work around the bug before by using the command line, but it is far simpler to have it just work, and now it does.

This would be at the next backup?  And should I make a new rescue media?

The next time you run Veeam, it should ask you to accept the license agreement and offer the rescue media thing again.  I would suggest making new rescue media, certainly!  The bug is fixed, so it will be a lot easier to use.

For some reason I couldn’t get the ok box checked on that screen, is it okay to burn a new rescue media from the Veeam site?

The one from the Veeam site will probably be fine, but doing it through the Veeam program adds any drivers it finds that are in the Linux installation but are not in the Veeam media by default.  To check the boxes, use space bar… TAB, up and down arrows, space bar, and enter will get you through anything in Veeam where you don’t have to type something.  It’s best to get this figured out now, because the rescue media will ask you the same thing before restoring.

I’ve worked with the Veeam ui in general without much difficulty- looks like in this case I had a brain freeze.  Even in this case, I went on to do a successful b/u.

I plan to cruise the Veeam cookbook, which I downloaded and have used before, to try and burn a new rescue thumb drive.  Thanks once again for your help!
