Does anybody have any tips/pointers on uploading files from the client to the Web server? From my travels through Google it would appear that the first part, getting the files off the client’s machine and on to the wire is easy. The functionality is built in to modern browsers and just needs a modified set of form tags. However the hard part is how to deal with it when it gets to the server as it arrives in a MIME format that ASP does not normally handle (at least I think that

AskWoody LoungerJuly 23, 2004 at 8:18 am #855105I’ve bought Pure ASP Upload, which is a Dreamweaver extension. I did this because it claims that its solution is ASP only and therefore requires no extra widgets to be installed on the web server. This was important as I have no idea what environment the project I’m currently working on (or any future projects) will find itself (themselves) in. Has anybody any hints, tips or dire warnings that I have made a big mistake?

AskWoody LoungerAugust 3, 2004 at 6:33 pm #859374I am attaching a zip file with two files. TestUpload.htm, has a Browse and Submit button (along with a link that won’t work…), and the upload.asp page. I did not write the upload.asp page, though I did modify bits and peices in all sorts of applications.
It should work just fine, though I will warn you that it will get VERY sluggish when you start dealing with larger files (10 meg +)
