I have xp home running on a 450mhz box and have recently added an HP 1220c printer. I have it hooked up through the USB port, a first for me. I have always had printers run through the lpt1 port. What I don’t really understand is what advantage am I gaining by using USB over parallel? I don’t notice marked speed improvement, although I have not put this through any real testing. I also have a scanner and a USB/ethernet adapter running through the USB ports as well. I have 2 USB ports, one of which is hooked to a 4 port USB box, giving me 5 USB connections. This falls into the somewhat useless information category, as everything is (seems to be) running just fine the way it is. I guess I just can’t help trying to squeeze every last second of speed I can get!!!
