Someone sent me an Excel file, but all I have on my computer is Word, Access, and Publisher (all 97), also Works (ver 4.5a). Is there a way to open this file and view it using the apps I have, or do I have to break down and load Excel?

You may be able to open it with works. If so it will open one sheet at a time rather than as a book as created in excel. In Windows Explorer right click on the file and select Open With then navigate to Works. If not then you will have to install Excel.

I’m not sure about this, but you may be able to ‘Insert | File’ to import it into Word.
(I can with Word 2K but I do have Excel and the appropriate import converter installed.)

Yes, that works, but I really don’t like the look of it. I think I will load Excel. See, I never use it for anything, so why clutter up the computer with it. The Office disk I have is SR-1. After I load Excel, will I have to run the SR-2b update again?
