Using a spreadsheet as a function in itself (Excel 2007)

I know you can use functions in Excel, but what about the other way around? I can’t find any references on the web to this sort of scenario:
You have a spreadsheet that has one cell as the INPUT value and another calculated cell as the OUTPUT value.
You have a second spreadsheet with just two colums: the first contains a discrete range of input values (e.g. 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9)
and the second column shows the results of plugging these values into the INPUT cell of the first, more elaborate, spreadsheet.
I would also put a graph of the results on the second spreadsheet.
How can you do this?
In other words I have a simple mathematical function y=f(x) and it is the first SPREADSHEET that is the ‘f’ of this function.
This is an extension of the ‘what if’ functionality in Excel, or is it?

I think you are thinking of a Data table in Excel.
