When would you use a DLL as opposed to an .XLA (Add-in)? Can someone describe the difference? How can I reference a DLL? Thanks, Andy.

An add-in allows you to work with the objects (forms, macros, etc.) as if they were in the current workbook and often shows up as a menu item. A dll allows you to use the code in that library as if it were in the current project but requires you to set a reference to it from the Tools menu in the VBE.
