Does anyone have any pointers on the practical uses for Notes in Outlook 2k? They are supposed to be an electronic version of Post-It ™ notes, but at least the paper version has one big advantage: it can be placed where it is needed. I decided to try making a note for a simple reminder – not a task per se, nor even important enough to stick into the calendar – but the only place I could get it to “stick” was in the Notes folder.
I usually use the Outlook Today view to see a quick overview of all major items, so I added the Notes folder to the list of folders to display in the “Messages” section, hoping that it would at least show a count of notes that I have left for myself. Since notes do not have a read/unread flag, and Outlook Today only shows the count of unread items, it displays a big uninformative beside the Notes folder.
There is a lot of empty space on the Outlook Today screen. I’d like to be able to stick a Note somewhere on this screen, to have it readily noticeable on my primary view. My memory is bad enough, that’s why I wanted to write a Note. If I can’t readily see that there is a Note out there to be read, how am I going to remember that it is there???
