Ref How to use – Quote & Reply – is NOT intuitive to me as one nets a Blank and the other a shtcut with No idea how to Edit either.

IS there instructions already and Where, OR Can this be added?

How To’s would seem to be in Tips For Using the Lounge, but these are all questions. Search How to use Quote is useless. Thanks as always!

      To quote in a reply:
+ Click on the “Reply” button in the post you want to reply to. That opens an entry box.
+ In the reply you want to quote, highlight the text you want to quote.
+ Click on the “Quote” button – the quoted material will go wherever your cursor is in the reply entry box. This will be editable text.
+ If you want to quote the whole post, instead of highlighting the text, just click “Quote” – this may not be editable.

I agree, it is NOT user friendly. What I did was select the quote which gave me the needed edit box and a “quote string” which I could delete if desired. If the quote label was changed to reply it would improve the experience for newbies. I would like to know where the new user documentation can be found that has the explanation just given previously.

Always looking for a conversation so I may learn something new and then pass that on.

A “quote” is not necessarily a “Reply.”
I am replying to #2302766 – by clicking “Reply, ” it nests my reply below your post.

But maybe I want to quote something in your original post and “Quote.”

Then I highlight the text in your original post, but I am not replying to that post.

And this time I replied, highlighted the relevant text and pressed quote. Seems reasonable to me – and I rarely quote posts so it’s not because I do it all the time and am familiar with the process.

All I did was highlight the text required (in this case all of it), then click on quote. I got the quoted text in the text box and just added this.

But of course this doesn’t nest the reply. But it’s obvious what the text is that’s being replied to.

This time I edited the quoted post, so you can select all the post and edit it.
