Utube on Firefox no sound

I help an elderly friend with her computer and I’ve hit a problem that stumps me.

She is running Windows 10 (latest updates etc.) and uses Firefox (latest version and have disable addons).  She likes and has used Utube for various art info for years.  Suddenly no sound on Utube.  Her sound system works and I’ve done all the standard Utube fixes but still no sound.

Suggestions greatly appreciated!

Does Firefox play sound on other sites? Vimeo, Twitch, and Mixer are a few you might try for testing.

Recent versions of Firefox have the ability to mute audio for individual tabs. When a tab is playing sound it’ll have a speaker next to the X button. Clicking the speaker toggles muting.

Then there’s Autoplay settings under Privacy & Security in Options/Preferences, where you can set an overall default as well as site-specific behaviors.

I’ll have to check those out.  I hear Twitch on my computer via a connection to her machine playing Twitch but that doesn’t mean she’ll hear it.

Checked Twitch and no sound from it.
