I installed OficeXP about 3 weeks ago. I was hoping that this would be the end of Vis Basic help woes. But nope, they are starting to rear their ugly heads. Pressing F1 to get help on Scripting GetFileName brings up a dialog asking if I want Access GetFileName or Scripting GetFileName. Selecting the Scripting one, just opens a help window that is all grey, no writing, just a grey square!
Doing the same with Scripting GetFile, goes straight to the grey window. I just checked the GetFile one again. That now brings up the

I’m afraid I can’t help, but this does strike a cord here, I’ve just had Office 2000 installed on my PC and the Access VBA help often ends with a dead end, similar to the one you describe. I’ve been nicely
asking our IT department to sort this out and install the ‘missing’ files. By the sounds of it I might be ‘politely’ asking the wrong people to sort out the problem.
Nice to know it’s not just me that MS has it in for
Update
Thought I’d have a look on the MS web site and found an article ( http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?…kb;en-us;231955 ), it just says the help files aren’t installed untill they are used, and that the install media must be available when they are called. This fits my situation, but I may be ‘teaching granny to suck eggs’ with your greater experience.

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 13, 2003 at 8:18 am #653141To get “Help” for FileSystemObject methods & properties in VB Editor, open Help, select “Contents” pane, then select “Visual Basic Language Reference” topic. FSO methods should be found under “Methods” subtopic, FSO properties under “Properties”, objects under “Objects”, etc. Typing name of method, property etc in Help Index pane keyword box also worked. I don’t normally use socalled Answer Wizard but that seemed to work too. I’m using Access XP aka Access 2002; when installing Office (XP or any other version) I typically select ALL options, but don’t know if that is factor in missing Help files or not.
