Now that I have Windows 7, I can’t install IncrediMail 2 for Windows 7. The message from the installer reads: Error 2738 Could not access VB Script run time for custom action.. I was downloading the Full Installation, and tried it wilh the Full and Custom options with the same error each time.

How does one fix this error?

    My thanks in advance.

I have Windows 7 Pro which accepts 32/64-programs. I have paid version of IncrediMail. I had to install IncrediMail XE to get it to work on 7.

      Hope this helps.

        Thanks Teresa,

I too had the paid version, but since this was a new computer there should have been no memory of which program I used before. I will try the XE setup and see if it loads on my Windows 7 Home computer.

If it works I will buy you an ice cream cone or a beer, which ever you prefer.

I checked my installation documents and realized that I had upgraded to the Gold edition,I’ve contacted IM and asked permission to re-install.

Do you have UAC turned off? Is IncrediMail running as admin?

Ken, please explain what UAC stands for. If you meant Update Notification, where will I find this?
Windows 7 is almost causing me to have a screaming fit. I’m tempted to remove it and reinstall Windows XP Home Edition, I still have the installation disk.

IncrediMail is not running as anthhing, it’s not installed because of the error message, like I said in my original post. I was using it successfully when I had Windows XP.

Thank you for your swift reply,

Hi Gloria, UAC stands for User Account Control. You can go to UAC by typing UAC in the start menu search box. UAC is located in ‘Users’ in the Control Panel.

Try right clicking on your IncrediMail executable and choose ‘run as administrator’ to see if you get the same error again.

Some people have found a remedy in this link . The description does not mention Incredimail, but the results will be the same if the vbscript.dll has not yet been registered with your Windows 7 system. This routine will register it. Follow the rest of the directions if the registering of the .dll does not solve your issue. Like I said, some have found this a good fix, but it does not cure everyone’s difficulty in getting IncrediMail installed.

You can do a search on the error message you keep getting and you will likely find more possibilities.

      Hope this helps.

I went to the site and printed the knowledge base article. If Teresa’s suggestion fails, I will follow the instructions in the KB.

Thank you Gerald, very much for the link.
