For some time now I’ve had a problem with IE and viewing Google Maps and SHarePoint/SharePOrtal sites. The problem occurs the same with both but since more people have most llikley been to Google Maps verses SharePoint/Portal sites I’ll use the Google Maps as the example.
When I first naviagte to the Google Maps page, a new window titled ‘Microsoft Office 2000 Professional’ pops ups with the following:
“Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office 2000 Professional”
A few seconds later a second Window pops up title ‘MIcrosoft Office 2000 Professional’ with this message:
“Error 1706. No valid source could be found for prodcut Miccrosoft Office 2000 Professional. The Windows Installer can not continue.
I click the only button on the Window, the ‘OK’ button and the process repeats with the same 2 Windows. After that the page loads and I continue as normal.
This happens only when I first load a Google Map URL. I can continue in Google Maps and not recieve the error. If I leave Google Maps and the naviagte back the process repeats.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and more importantlt how to stop ot? It’s not too much of a pain with Google Maps but when navigating to a SharePoint/Portal page it is because I work with a SharePoint/POrtal site (one of my clients) on a daily basis and because I am frequently going thru the main page in the Portal I am continuoously dealing with this issue.
Additional info:
I am running various products from the Office 2000, 2003 & 20007 suites. Some products I use have multiple versions installed like Excel. I have Excel 2000, 2003 & 2007 installed. This is because the product I support works with all three bersions and in order to work with clients I need all 3 versions. I’ve ran multiple versions of Office programs in the past without this issue. It started before I installed Office 2007 and after installing Office 2003.
Thanks
Ed
