I assume that the developer disabled this option for security reasons.

Unless I am misunderstanding what you want to do, I can see it OK:

You can view the source in Firefox and in Google Chrome, but the option doesn’t do anything in Internet Explorer 7. Apparently it’s a half-baked security measure. grin

But I can see the source…

(Edited to change the extension of the attachment to “.rtf“. To view, Save As… “personal.txt” and open with Notepad or similar. It will not open with Word.)

Oops, I didn’t look at your screenshot closely enough. Sorry about that.

That’s strange – absolutely nothing happens if I try to view the source code in IE7…

            • #1129489

Strangely I was able to view it on my first visit to the home page and another page, and then not again after that. I have ActiveX set to prompt and didn’t approve it the first time. Not sure whether that has anything to do with it.

Depending on the reason for viewing the source, you might be able to find what you want by inspecting the page’s plumbing using this old IE add-in: Download details: Internet Explorer Developer Toolbar.

I just went up to that site and found that depending on WHERE I right click, I will get the View Source and sometimes I will NOT.

It doesn’t matter where I right-click that page in Internet Explorer 7, nothing ever happens if I select View source.

I should have noted that I am using IE 7.

Just tried it again and I get the same results, depending on where I right click. There are a lot of images. When I right click on any of the images or “Blue” lettering I do NOT get “View Source” but if I click in the clear area to the right of the blue text I will get the View Source.

Sorry, I hit “Post It” too soon. I do get “View source” if I right-click outside the images and links, but selecting “View source” doesn’t do anything.

OK, I never looked to see if it will open View Source. You are correct, it does NOT.
I have found that a lot “.asp” sites will not view source. Even those that do, you must go through the error pane to get it to open.

FWIW, I have no problems at all viewing source on several pages with IE8 beta 2.
