W10 1909 pending updates

This morning my ‘pause updates’ date expired and I now see the following updates pending download

KB2267602 Defender update (ok with that one)

KB890830 Malicious software tool March 2020 (never know whether to install that one or not)

KB4540673 Cumulative update for 1909 dated 2020-03

When I ran wushowhide I got all the above PLUS

KB4497165 Update for 1909 dated 2020-01

First, I thought KB4540673 had been superceded by another (buggy) patch?

Secondly, why has KB4497165 suddenly appeared?

Answers (on suitably disinfected postcard) greatly appreciated. Greetings from UK and may you all stay safe and well.

Thanks PKCano, yes I was aware of that, just wondering why it’s not appeared before. Unless I hid it previously and it’s now un-hid itself  – it’s been a bit like Groundhog Day in recent weeks

So  ok to install that one?

Every time it is updated and re-released, it is essentially a new patch. The old one is superseded and disappears from the hidden updates and reappears as a new update (even it has the same KB number).

I do not install the Intel microcode patches. But that’s just my choice.

the KB4497165 intel microcode update used to be an MS-Catalog only update in late 2019 but was revised several times and after late February 2020, MS decided to issue the revised KB4497165 update not only thru MS update catalog, but also thru windows update & WSUS.

best to use wushowhide to hide/block the KB4497165 update, especially for 1903/1909 users who are using computers w/ AMD processors rather than machines using Intel CPUs
