W10 ver 20H2, metered connection, NO WU Pause

Hi,

I have version 20H2, have metered connection set, and have not paused windows update.  Each morning I use wushowhide to see if there are any outstanding updates.  If there are, I check them out on the web to see if any have problems reported.  If so, I hide the potentially offending update.  Usually all are OK and I use WU to download and install them.  However, if I do nothing, nothing gets automatically loaded and installed.  I have been under the impression that we would lose control of updates with versions 2000 and 20H2.  Am I missing something here?  Is wushowhide still a useful tool?

Replies

Metered prevents automatic download and install of all updates. It does not prevent checking for updates.

What you use to view / manage updates is up to you. WUshowhide, WuMgr etc. These are still effective on 2004/H2.
What you lose is some of the GUI controls.
