How do I get the file extension to appear in Window 7? In Word, Excel, etc. I want the file name and file extension to appear on the title bar. I have already unchecked Hide file Extensions for known file types in Tools… Folder Options. I didn’t have this problem in Windows XP – the file extension always was there. Thanks.

      Please clarify.
When Word, Excel, etc. are open the Filename and Extension is not shown in the Title Bar of Word, Excel, etc.?

      Which version of Office?

Are both Office & Windows 7 up-to-date with patches?

TFSPRY: Yes, I don’t see the file extension on the taskbar in Word or Excel.
JOEPEREZ: I’m using Office 12 (Word 2007). I’m not sure about updates because it’s a company pc.

          ….., I don’t see the file extension ……….

Do you see the “Filename” on the Title bar when in Excel or Word?

If you go to Win Explorer for the files in question – do you see the File Extension?

Yes, I do see the filename, but not the extension. In Win Explorer the file extension is showing as I want. But I also want to see the file extension in the taskbar when working on a file. Thanks.

I FOUND the answer. Control Panel… Tools… Folder Options… View. Click Display Full Path in Address Bar and
Checked Display Full Path in Title Bar.
