    What is:
    “Support AskWoody”
“Click to shop at Amazon USA”
    https://www.askwoody.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Buy-from-Amazon.gif

Images load better if the are on a public website (and not someone’s private LAN).

I have not been able to find this link on the main website page. The links I have clicked on either point to Amazon or PayPal.
Could you please describe where you clicked on this?

I have reported this behavior to Woody via DM. It’s been seen before for the last two months on and off again.

The link being referred to is attached to the image/link in the upper right corner of the page to support this site by shopping at Amazon and clicking the image that shows up there. The image is right under the bold lettered “Support AskWoody” phrase in the upper right corner right below the paragraph that begins “Welcome to our unique respite…” If you hover over that image, you should see the NAT IP address in the lower left corner of your browser. The image should say “Buy from Amazon”.

Woody has said that it’s something that’s fixed by the developers, and I have reported this particular instance to him when I noticed it yesterday, 11/19/2017.

        YMMV

I’m using Waterfox. AdBloc Plus is turned off on this site. But I also have Disconnect and NoScript. They must be blocking it, b/c it doesn’t show for me.

          Thanks for notifying Woody.

In FF, it can be seen by going into Tools, Page Info from the Menu Bar. You have to have the Menu Bar showing by right clicking in the browser’s tab title area (area where the tabs would be if you had more than one open).

The other way to see the Page Info window is to right click on the main part of the page (again, in FF) and select the “View Page Info” option.

Once there, click on the “Media” tab and scroll down the list a ways. You’ll see the address in question about two thirds of the way down the list, just after several “secure.gravitar.com” type of entries.

The procedure(s) should be similar for Waterfox, since it’s “related” to FF.

I’m not using any ad blocking add-ons at all besides what’s included in FF (tracking protection, 3rd party cookie blocking, disabling DOM storage, etc.) and the image doesn’t show for me, but I get a message that FF is waiting for askwoody.com or that it’s waiting for the NAT IP address to respond.

Yes, I see that now. But I certainly would not go looking there while browsing AskWoody. And otherwise I had no knowledge of it.

It’s a leftover link to one of our developer’s testing sites. I’ll get them on it right away.

I was having trouble loading the site so I enabled browser network monitoring (things went back to normal before I saw anything), but one site element failed to load, and it was from a LAN address. Figured I’d mention it.

Woody and the developers are aware of the issue, as noted in the posts above. My guess is that it’s slated to be fixed during the upcoming downtime starting November 23rd.

Thanks for your input, letting people know that the issue still persists as of the date and time of your post.

This is unchanged. I didn’t see a post saying that the update went wellย / was completedย or not.

The forum section does seem to be loading fast and more reliably, but I have not done an objective comparison.

As far as I know, the update is still pending, therefore you’ll still see the reference to the IP address instead of a reference to askwoody.com at that location. As is stated above, it’s a “leftover” from the developers’ testing and I expect it will be gone by the time the site is updated and running with the new configuration.

        @woody
, @PKCano, @Kirsty please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong about the site’s status.

What’s “http://45.33.96.32/piwik/” and why isn’t it on a secure connection?
